Local 4459 has been in bargaining for over a year. All items have been agreed to except one: employee access to the Board of Directors. This change would mean Tearmann Society employees could be prevented from having a say in Board decisions made about their workplace and no longer be able to provide the vital perspective and context that only frontline workers can provide.
Instead of applying for the pension they (finally!) achieved, or receiving wage increases they fought for, these workers are stuck waiting—and preparing for possible job action. This is the only issue holding up negotiations, and with your help we can resolve it.
The critical service that Tearmann Society provides to communities across Pictou County would not exist without the workers that deliver it. Please join us in standing up for that service, and those workers. Send a letter of support for CUPE Local 4459 today!
