Workers at Ottawa Foyers Partage (OFP) empower people living with developmental disabilities to lead full lives. They’re not just care givers but chefs, personal coaches, confidants, and more. Often, they’re the only social interaction their clients have.
These workers change lives. That’s why it’s so unfair that they are paid more than $5 an hour less than other developmental service workers in Ottawa and many don’t have vacation or sick leave.
OFP used to be an employer of choice. People were proud to work there, providing the highest level of care.
Now clients spend hours in their rooms alone as the agency can’t hire or keep enough dedicated, trained staff.
